Consumer Warranty Policy
Consumer Warranty Policy
Red Duck Knives stands behind the quality of its products and supports retailers by handling consumer warranty claims directly through our Service Department. This allows store teams to confidently sell Red Duck Knives, knowing their customers will receive reliable warranty support if a manufacturing defect occurs.
All branded Red Duck Knives (RDK) products are guaranteed against defects in workmanship and materials for the lifetime of the original owner.
If a manufacturing defect occurs, Red Duck Knives will replace the product in accordance with this warranty policy.
Customers who purchased their knife from an authorized retailer or directly from the Red Duck Knives consumer website may submit a warranty claim if a manufacturing defect occurs. When submitting a claim, customers should provide proof of purchase whenever possible. If the receipt is unavailable, customers may request a copy from the retailer where the product was purchased.
Warranty Coverage
The Red Duck Knives warranty covers defects in workmanship and materials that occur under normal use. If a product is determined to be defective, Red Duck Knives will replace the item.
This warranty applies to Red Duck Knives folding knives, fixed-blade knives, automatic knives, axes, hatchets, tracker knives and self-defense tools when used for their intended purpose.
Warranty Limitations
The warranty does not cover damage resulting from misuse, abuse, improper maintenance, product alterations, or disassembly. Using knives or tools for purposes other than their intended cutting or chopping functions may void the warranty.
Normal wear-and-tear that occurs during regular use is also not covered. Examples of normal wear include blade dulling, scratches, or cosmetic changes resulting from use.
Certain handle materials—including resin, rubber, plastics, bone, antler, horn, and wood—may naturally expand, contract, or develop small cracks due to exposure to moisture, light, temperature changes, or humidity. These natural material changes are not covered 30 days after the original purchase date.
Examples of Issues Not Covered Under Warranty
The following conditions are generally not covered under warranty:
- Rusted, stained, spotted, or scratched blades or handles
- Worn, chipped, bent, broken, or dull blades or tips
- Worn tool components such as locks or buttons after 30 days
- Loose, worn, or cracked handle materials after 30 days
- Lost thumb studs
- Leather sheaths in any condition after 30 days from purchase
Warranty Resolution
Red Duck Knives replaces defective products rather than repairing them.
If a product has been discontinued and cannot be replaced with the same model, Red Duck Knives will issue a gift certificate equal to the product’s original MSRP, as determined by Red Duck Knives. This certificate may be used toward the purchase of another product.
Submitting a Warranty Claim
Customers should contact the Red Duck Knives Service Department before shipping a product to obtain a realistic assessment of the issue and avoid unnecessary shipping expenses.
All warranty shipments should be sent prepaid and insured to the Red Duck Knives Service Department. Red Duck Knives is not responsible for packages lost or stolen during shipping if they do not arrive at our facility.
Preparing a Product for Warranty Shipment
Customers submitting a warranty claim should include a brief note inside the package with the following information:
- Description of the product being returned
- Description of the defect and how the product failed
- Full name, address, daytime phone number, and email address
- Indication if the product has sentimental value
Red Duck Knives is not responsible for lost or misplaced sentimental items, although a good-faith effort will be made to return them with the replacement product.
Products should be securely packaged in a shipping box. Knives should be wrapped to ensure the blade cannot move or shift during shipping.
Customers should not ship products in original packaging, padded envelopes, or loose packing materials such as popcorn foam, as these materials do not provide adequate protection.
Return Shipping
Red Duck Knives covers return shipping for approved warranty replacements, except when a product is determined not to be defective. In those cases, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs.
